Read more about the REGALE approach and project results in our <a href=\"https:\/\/regale-project.eu\/?p=656\">press release<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A brief overview:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In March 2024, the European HPC project REGALE, coordinated by the Greek Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS) and funded by the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking, will come to an end after three years.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>REGALE researchers have successfully completed their work on developing a new software infrastructure to make supercomputers more energy efficient.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Energy efficiency is particularly important for the new Exascale generation of supercomputers, which will be crucial for scientific research, but will consume a substantial amount of energy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tools developed by consortium members, such as the Leibniz Supercomputing Centre, the Technical University of Munich, the Grenoble Alpes University or CINECA, are combined to achieve effective resource utilisation and complex application execution.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-content-justification-left is-layout-flex wp-container-core-buttons-is-layout-fdcfc74e wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/regale-project.eu\/?p=656\">Read Press Release<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ABOUT REGALE<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Supercomputers in the near future will be different from today&#8217;s HPC (High Performance Computing) systems in many ways. The process towards more computing power involves a divergence from the traditional approach of &#8220;scaling out by just adding more building blocks&#8221;, and has to rely on innovation across the stack considering the three key challenges performance at scale, energy efficiency, and resilience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The REGALE project started in April 2021. It aims to build a software stack that is not only capable of bringing efficiency to tomorrow&#8217;s HPC systems. It also will be open and scalable for massive supercomputers. REGALE brings together leading supercomputing stakeholders, prestigious academics, top European supercomputing centers and end users from critical target sectors, covering the entire value chain in system software and applications for extreme scale technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video height=\"720\" style=\"aspect-ratio: 1280 \/ 720;\" width=\"1280\" controls poster=\"https:\/\/regale-project.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/AdobeStock_182448848-scaled.jpeg\" src=\"https:\/\/regale-project.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/REGALE_Interviews_1280x720.mp4\"><\/video><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Interview with Assoc.
