One problem in the development of actual HPC software is, that most research is done site-specific. But HPC systems are more or less unique. Porting a code to a different system is time consuming and not always efficient. To ensure openness and scalability, REGALE uses different testbeds at the partner’s sites with different technologies.
One of these testbeds used in REGALE is BEAST (Bavarian Energy-, Architecture- and Software-Testbed) at the Leibniz Supercomputing Centre.
